Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, has vowed to ensure that the entire roads in the state are lit up at night. . . Before the end of his administration.
The Gidi helmsman made this very comforting commitment on Monday night while dedicating the 7-kilometre traffic light from Jibowu to Maryland, at a short ceremony held at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Anthony.
The governor stated, “it will reduce the rate of road traffic accidents and improve the level of security in the state.”
Not to rain on the governor's parade or anything, but a thought just occurred to me:
If the roads are all lite up, and we can see every stretch of tarmac, every depth of bump, and every barrel of gun from the hoodlums and bandits, then. . .
. . . They can see us too!
Just saying.
In any case we welcome this development, and hope that by the time the Fashola administration concludes its leadership, Gidi's light will so shine that on a global map, it will stand out like a sore thumb!
Here's wishing. . .
