Tsonga Smashes His Racket At Federer
Wednesday's quarter final match at the Australian Open between Tsonga and Federer produced a comic moment when the Frenchman raised his racket at the Swiss with teasing menace.
The Frenchman, Jo Wilfried Tsonga had just lost a crucial point due to a lucky net cord shot by Federer, and as he tried to reach the shot, his momentum brought him to Federer's side of the net.
As they crossed paths, Tsonga mimicked hitting Federer: the Swiss ducked ever so slighly, and the crowd roared with laughter. It was a moment which brought out a smile from the two players, but we weren't sure if for a split moment Tsonga hadn't actually thought about taking a whack at Federer. . .
. . . Probably wouldn't be the first time an opponent had thought about it, and it could've helped the Frenchman's game, 'cos. . .
He would go on to lose 6-3, even after saving two break points and holding the serve to get the final set back to 2-4 after the comic show.
Had he known, he'd have finished the job right then and there.
Guess there's always next time.
