Gidi residents can breathe a little sigh of relief, as the Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 25 year old man who - it's alleged - specializes in kidnapping children for use in the rituals of money-making.
The man, Tope Akingbemila, was apprehended when his latest scheme to kidnap a 5 year old child in the Ketu area of Lagos fell through.
Tope surely thought he'd gotten another one in the bag as he was ushering the child into a tricycle, but the motherly instincts and eagle eyes of the mother zoomed in on her child as he was being driven away and raised alarm, and as you can imagine. . .
. . . ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE!
A mob - not a docile one, but an angry one (As if there's another type of mob) gave chase and finally apprehended the kidnapper. Three other people escaped. . .
Don't worry: We'll get 'em next time.
Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, gave these and other details concerning the development. According to the police mouthpiece, the suspect confessed to having received ransom from parents of two other children earlier kidnapped.
His 'co-operative' assistance in the police's investigation has led to the arrest of a couple and a middle aged man who ostensibly ran as househelps, using this as a guise to perpetrate their nefarious activities.
Well, their running and kidnapping days are over.
GET THE TIRES AND PETROL!!!
Just kidding folks. . . Just kidding.
It's good to know the police are doing their jobs. . . But wait a minute. . .
It was the crowd who caught the guy, wasn't it?!
