Theo Walcott Finally Signs A New Contract

Walcott has signed a new deal after months of speculation

Theo Walcott has finally signed a new Arsenal contract after months of tortuous negotiations. The England international has put pen to paper on a 3½-year deal with a total package worth £100,000 a week that will make him the highest earner at the club.

Walcott’s contract is worth over £20 milllion, as it also includes a £3 million signing-on fee after a recent policy change by the club in an attempt to retain more of their players after several high-profile losses. Thomas Vermaelen received a similar payment when he signed a new contract last year.

I guess his calls for a lead striker role in the squad as part of terms for the new contract was pushing it a bit.

Fans of Arsenal Football Club. . . the good news is that you'll be seeing more of Theo Walcott.

The bad news is, he won't be playing in the striker's role which has taken the toga of persona non grata off his head in recent times.

*Sigh* Guess you can't win them all.
