Armstrong Faces Legal Action By Sunday Times

Lance Armstrong could cough out around 1 million pounds to the British newspaper Sunday Times, after it said its lawsuit against the cyclist has been strengthened by his doping confessions.

In 2006, the paper paid Armstrong 300,000 pounds (now about $485,000) to settle a case after it reprinted claims from a book that he took performance enhancing drugs.

Now the paper, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., is suing Armstrong for around 1 million pounds ($1.6 million) to reclaim the settlement payment plus interest and legal costs.

Ouch!

Armstrong acknowledged in a TV interview with Oprah Winfrey aired on Thursday that he used EPO, testosterone, human growth hormone and blood transfusions in order to win the Tour de France seven times.

"We watched Lance Armstrong’s interview with interest and noted his numerous admissions regarding taking performance-enhancing drugs," "The Sunday Times said in a statement. "The Sunday Times believes that our case for recovering the 1 million pounds he obtained from us by fraud is now even stronger. We will be pursuing that case vigorously."

If they sound like a bunch of people sitting around the television, eating chicken and popcorn, watching the confession with avid attention and drooling at the mouth, then don't be hard on them.

Armstrong really took it to anyone and everyone who asserted that he took PEDs, and now they're gonna be lining up at his door. . .

. . . With torches, pitchforks and daggers drawn!

Something tells me this guy is gonna be more than a little sorry he had that interview.
