Governor Sullivan Chime Has Cancer

It's been revealed that Nigeria's Enugu State Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime, is being treated for Cancer.

Investigations by THISDAY revealed that the governor underwent the treatment in a London hospital after he discovered a growth around the left side of his neck during a medical check-up in London. He complained, but doctors dismissed it as nothing, but had to return with the same compaint following his discomfiture with the growth.

The doctors then decided to perform a biopsy which revealed that the growth was cancerous. . . Other cancerous growths around his nose were also discovered. This was why he asked for an extended leave to enable him complete the treatment in London.

With treatment complete and the cancer in remission, Governor Chime is expected to return to the country and his office next month. .

. . . As soon as the swelling on his face goes down.

If you recall, a photograph of him and Governors Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, Gabriel Suswam of Benue State, and the Chairman of the Nigerian Governor's Forum (NGF) Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, surfaced this week, prompting a flurry of debate about his actual health and the authenticity of that picture.

With this story we now know it's authentic.

Governor Chime had handed over duties to his deputy, but that singular action did not dispel rumours over his health. . .

. . . And this is because of the secrecy shrouding his health. If you also recall, Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke also left the country ostensibly on vacation., but THISDAY learnt is now recuperating following a renal surgical procedure for a kidney ailment.

Why do our elites hide their ailments from the public? Do they think there's some sort of taboo associated with being sick?

Anyone, at anytime, can get sick. It's nothing to be ashamed about. . . but the rich don't want to hear this.

When the poor get sick, everyone hears about it, but when the sick get sick, they try to cover it up. . . as if anyone gives a hoot.

These Governors should thank their lucky stars that they had the resources to even be able to diagnose their ailments and treat them in time.

The poor man in a similar situation doesn't stand a chance.

They ought to make their ailments public knowledge, so the people can offer prayers for their quick recovery. . . Like Chile's President Hugo Chavez.
