Nigeria Wins Copa Lagos 2012!
The final of the Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Worldwide competition came to an end on Sunday with Nigeria's Super Sand Eagles retaining their crown with an 8-7 win over reigning European champions, Portugal.
The Supersand Eagles edged Portugal's Seleccao das Quinas 8-7 but had to finish off the job in extra time after the three periods ended 7-7. The Super Sand Eagles achieved the feat winning all 3 of their games at the four-team invitational tournament in Lagos.
They had to go through Lebanon, Argentina, and eventually Portugal. The success of the tournament has put it in good stead to be a major sporting item in the Gidi sporting calendar.
It wasn't just all sports, as music went along with the excitement: the likes of Wizkid and Bourna Boy were on hand to thrill the football loving crown.
And what's a beach football competition without the ladies. . . The beautiful cheerleading girls from Spain were also there to feed the eyes.
In the inaugural tournament last year, The Super Sand Eagles defeated Brazil to emerge the inaugural winners of the Copa Lagos.
