If The VP Gets A 2 Billion Naira Home, Then. . .
The Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria, Mr. Bala Mohammed appeared before the Senate Committee on the FCT on Tuesday to defend the huge allocations in the 2013 Budget for the construction of houses for Vice President Namadi Sambo and other senior government officials.
He said the FCT's 50 billion naira budget for 2013 included a 2 billion naira funding for the construction of official residence of Vice President Namadi Sambo.
According to a Punch correspondent who went through the estimates, a 2 billion naira proviso for the construction of the official residence of Sambo and a 300 million naira for the design and construction of residences of the President of the Senate, David Mark, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, House of Reps Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal and his deputy, Emeka Ihedioha were contained in the budget.

Sometimes we're forced to think this country is poor, but when we see the politicians allocating humongous sums for trivial things as buildings, and banquet halls, we think again.
2 billion naira for a residence?. . . What happened to the old one? The 'palace' is not being built because it'll make Sambo perform better in his role as Vice President, no. . . it's because we KNOW that someone, somewhere could - and will - get rich from this highly unnecessary venture.
When government starts spending ridiculously huge monies on unnecessary things, you KNOW someone's gonna strike gold.
. . . and end up buying a freaking jet!
