Anenih Becomes NPA Board Chairman

Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan appears to enjoy cavorting with unpopularity. . . 'cos he's gone ahead and appointed Chief Tony Anenih Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority!

The appointment was announced in a statement late Thursday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim.

It's not hard to imagine the shitstorm this appointment is gonna brew (actually IS brewing): It's a very controversial - as well as lucrative - position, and to give it to a controversial personality like Anenih is telling Nigerians to go TALK TO THE HAND!

The wily politician that he is, Anenih is not new to governmental positions, holding many in his checkered sojourn through Nigeria's political landscape: He was the former Chairman of the People's Democratic Party's Board of Trustee, grabbing an unforgettable position as the Minister of Works under the Obasanjo tenure. . .

. . . And making a complete muck of the job!

Under his ministerial stewardship, no major road in the country was reparied or constructed and the ones already in existence like the Lagos-Ibadan booby-trap, and the Benin-Ore death-trap grew added to their deplorable states.

He capped it off with an indictment by a National Assembly Committee for the mismanagement of over N3oo Billion accrued to the Ministry of Works during his leadership.

And now our dear president has gone and made him Chairman of the Board of a juicy agency. . .

A position formerly held by a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Bode George. . .

. . .Who was convicted of contract splitting of billions of naira, serving only 2 years for the crime!

Man!. . . you just can't write this script.
