Linkin Park Fan Dies During Concert

A woman reportedly died at a Linkin Park concert in South Africa on Wednesday. The death of the woman and injuries to 19 other people occurred when the scaffolding outside Green Point stadium collapsed under high winds just before the concert kicked off.
The city’s spokeswoman, Kylie Hatton said, “One person passed away last night as a result of injuries. It was a female individual. She passed away after she was taken to hospital.” The concert went ahead however, with the group oblivious of the unfortunate event.  The group expressed ‘extreme sadness’ after they learned of the sad event; “Following our performance tonight at Cape Town Stadium, we were advised that several people were injured as a result of the collapse of an advertising tower erected by Lucozade in the parking area outside the venue. Though we have had no relationship with the sponsor of the entity responsible for erecting the structure, we take the safety of our fans very seriously and our thoughts are with all of those who were affected by this tragedy.” A statement on the band’s website said.
