Gulder Ultimate Search Season 9 Winner Emerges

The Gulder Ultimate Search has come and gone leaving 24 year old Paschal Ojezele the Ultimate winner of the 9th Season of the hit family reality TV show.Gulder Ultimate Search 2012, tagged; The Gatekeeper's Fortune was the 9th edition in the series since the show started in 2004, and it featured 12 contestants: 6 men and 6 women. Sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc, makers of the star brand, Gulder, the show has garnered wide acceptance and viewership since it debuted. GUS is the first 100% truly local content reality show in Nigeria, and this year's edition did not disappoint with its own twist of the human element.

The 12 participants were: Michael Ogbuefi, Nuhu Zigwayi, Priscilla Ezeh, James Adah, Ayo Oyueromi, Ifet Iniobong, Patience Bornford, Kofya Adah, Ujam Emmanuel, Oyinye Udodi, Uzor Osimkpa and the eventual winner - the Ultimate Man - Paschal Ojezele.

At the home stretch, it was Paschal and Oyinye who were left in the final race for the Gate Keeper's Fortune, but it was Paschal who eventually found the much coveted prize, which fetched him a whooping sum of 9 million naira, a 500 thousand naira swagger allowance, and a Ford SUV! Oyinye (The last girl standing) took home 3 million naira for her troubles, plus an extra 1 million naira for being the last girl standing. It was between her and Uzor, however, Uzor got evicted for her blatant disobedience, hence paving the way for Oyinye to remain as the last woman, even going as far as the end, but Paschal beat him to the grand prize.

It must be said that this year's show, while entertaining, did not live up to its previous editions. Chidi Mokeme, the host, seemed uninterested, the contestants lacked the necessary level of intelligence (as well as physical prowess) and the show itself lost its credibility as an adventure show, because all the contestants seemd to be doing was going out and playing games, as against an actual adventure search, which characterized its theme from the onset.
