Anni Dewani's Killer Found Guilty Of Murder

In 2010, the world woke to the shocking death of Anni Dewani who was on honeymoon with her husband Shrien Dewani in Capetown South Africa. Her abduction, rape and eventual murder sparked off an outpouring of emotions, and set the wheels of justice running, and 2 years later, Xolile Mngeni, the last of her killers, has been found guilty of the crime.

Xolile was found guilty of being the trigger man in her death - the man who fired the fatal shot which took her life on November 13, 2010, and even though he protested his innocence, the court found little evidence to support his claims of innocence. Earlier, two accomplices in the crime, Zola Tongo and Mziwamadoda Qwabe, who had implicated Mngeni, are now serving lengthy sentences after entering into plea bargains,

The two had also claimed that they were hired by Anni's new British husband, Shrien Dewani to kill his bride during a fake hijacking in Gugulethu township.

Shrien is currently awaiting and fighting extradition to South Africa to answer for his crime. Mngeni's conviction does not do his cause any good. It still remains a mystery why he may have wanted to kill his wife, seeing that from all appearances they looked a very happy couple.

25 year old Mngeni will be sentenced on Wednesday.
