Stadium Is Named After Keshi

It's being reported that the Delta State government has named the ultra-modern Asaba Stadium after Stephen Keshi as tribute to his success in leading the national football team to victory in the just concluded AFCON tournament held in South Africa.

This announcement was made by the Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan at a reception organised for the victorious Super Eagles team at the International Event Centre, Asaba, Delts State.

As if that was not enough, Keshi was given a cash reward of N8 million and a Duplex, while his assistant coaches, Daniel Amokachi, Sylvanus Okpala and Ike Shorunmu got N4 million each.

The players were given N2.5 million each, however, members of the team who are current or former players of the state-owned Warri Wolves Football Club, like Sunday Mba, Fengor Ogude, Chigozie Agbim, AzuibikeEgwekwe, and Nosa Igiebor, were given N5 million each.

The accolades and tributes for Keshi keep rolling in. And why shouldn't they? We had to wait 19 years for this trophy.

THEY DESERVE IT!
