It's Just N20,000 Per Night For Me. . .

Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has revealed that he collects N25,000 per night for trips within Nigeria.

The CBN Governor was reacting to questions posed by Lagos Lawyer, Mr. Bamidele Aturu, on recurrent expenditures of the CBN, as well as the rising cost of governace.

Sanusi said that he does not charge CBN or the Federal Government any fee outside his remuneration, and that he fuels his personal cars with personal funds.

. . . Before nko?

Did he expect to use public funds to fuel his personal cars? If it were official cars, that would be a different kettle of fish.

Reacting to the CBN governor’s response yesterday, Aturu said while he was not completely satisfied with the response, he would commend Sanusi "for not behaving like most public officials who would have simply ignored the request. We are of the view that the reaction of the bank to our request will encourage public institutions to conduct their affairs transparently."

The CBN Governor actually expects us to believe that he gets just N20,000 per night for trips within the country?

How much does a room command in a luxury hotel?

If Sanusi expects us to swallow this bit of information, hook, line and sinker, then he should think again.

Why are we even talking about it? Well, 'cos a while back, our CBN helmsman caused quite a ripple when he suggested that the nation's workforce should be reduced by 50% so as to curb government recurrent expenditure.

Guess he's trying to lead by example. . . or trying to prove to us that he's leading by example.
