Yesterday, in a community in Lagos, a baby was pulled out from the ground. . . ALIVE!
Someone. . . or something, had apparently buried the baby while supposedly in their right minds.
Now it's causing ripples in the social media trailing condemnations from all quarters, with some calling for the heads of whoever may have done this deplorable deed.
Agreed, the act is horrible, deplorable and detestable. But we NEED to be careful with the kind of hateful mob sentiments we tend to whip up when someone commits a horrible crime.
We need to understand that it's sentiments like these that act as the precursors to these and other similar crimes. Sometimes we need to step back and look at the whole picture. . . again.
1. Who did this?
2. Why did they do it?
Whoever did this (we assume it's a person), obviously didn't want the baby dead, either because they didn't have the stomach to kill, or because killing wasn't necessary.
If it's the former, then the person NEEDS serious help. . . in which case we should be talking about offering psychiatric, emotional and financial support to them and their likes. . . .
. . . .Instead of calling for the tyres and petrol.
Now consider this: If the person is supposedly in their right minds, then it had to take something very powerful to convince them that burying the baby alive was the best thing to do.
You guessed it. . . I'm talking juju.
It's possible the person(s) actually believed the baby deserved to be buried alive.
I'm also talking brainwash, on a massive scale.
Whatever case it may be, these people need the collective attention and support from the public so we can stamp out these and other heinous crimes out of our lives (or at least minimize their occurrence).
Maiming, lynching, killing, and condemning isn't going to help us in the long run.
GidiCity is glad the baby is alright, but what remains now is for each and everyone to give support to young pregnant girls, and not scoff at them or lay on their heads the toga of pariah.
With no one to help them, these girls are susceptible to the devious machinations of the devil, and his cohorts in human form.
They're willing to do ANYTHING to free themselves of what they term as a burden, simply because society makes them believe they ang their little package are a burden.
Remember, it takes two to tango.
The baby while still in the ground
The baby all washed up and clean
