Style-Plus Records A Minus

Nigeria's beloved music boy group, Style-Plus might want to consider changing their name, after one of the members, Tunde, left the group to pursue a solo career.

In the past, the group Style-Plus had remained together through thick and thin, parrying rumours of break-ups at every point in their musical career, however this break-up is something they'll have to deal with headlong.

Even though they cannot be said to have achieved the same level of success, as sayyyy. . . . P-Square, their wonderful tunes will forever leave indelible marks in our romantic lives, notable among which is the ever popular, 'Olufunmi'.

One wonders if they can do it again after this break-up. Or will they just say, "To hell with it" and just go their separate ways? While they're busy debating this caustic issue, Tunde has rebranded himself as NativeBoy, and has even recorded several songs under his own record label, B.A.T. Records.

Their four years in music limbo land didn't do them much good; guess Tunde got fed up with the inactivity. Someone should've told them that if you want to get anywhere in this country, Lagos is the place to be. Abuja or PortHarcourt just won't cut it. . .

. . . Unless of course you're Bright Chimezie. . .

But a Style-Plus?. . . They should've remained in Gidi. Now, it's too late. . . FAR TOO LATE!

Tunde isn't the first person in the group to try his luck alone: The group which began in 1997 with the name STYLE, had as members, Tunde Akinsanmi, Shifi Emoefe, Yemi Akinwonmi, and Lanre Faneyi. They lost Lanre Faneyi to the cold hands of death, and in came Zeal Onyecheme as his replacement, hence the change of name from STYLE to STYLE-PLUS.

. . . Get it?

Yemi found his square root in 2002, following which the remaining members launched the group's label in 2003.

Now Tunde has left, begging the question: Will Style-Plus be disbanded?
