Plateau State Workers End Strike
At last, the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Plateau State Civil Service has been suspended.
We gathered this from a statement signed by the Secretary of the Plateau State NLC, Richard Gbawuan, in which it said it decided to suspend the general straike because Governor Jonah Jang had agreed to pay local government workers their salaries from October to December, while payments for the remaining five months will be spread and paid in installments later.
It also said that 55% salary increase takes effect from 1st June, 2012.
"Modalities for payment of salaries for June to September 2012 will be worked out for payment within one month by the office of the Minister of labour, NLC Headquarters and Plateau state government."
So, the strike has been suspended and work resumed today.
