In Search Of A Virgin. . .
The Principal of a school, Ajuwon High School, in Iju Ajuwon Ifo local government Area of Ogun State, who allegedly subjected her female students to virginity tests has been suspended from work.
The woman, Mrs. Olufunke Olatundun, who is described as a strick disciplinarian, is alleged to have invited a nurse and jointly carried out the virginity tests on a group of 10 Senior Secondary School 1 students last week Monday without the consent of the parents and guradians of the pupils.
Commissioner for Education, Science and technology, Mr Segun Odubela announced on Wednesday that, “After the preliminary investigations conducted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Olufunke has been suspended from work."
A press statement signed by the Commissioner, stated that the Ministry had invited and interrogated the school’s Principal to give her a fair hearing.
The Commissioner also added that a five-man panel consisting of officials of both the Ministry and Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has been set up to further investigate the case and make appropriate recommendations on how to deal with the matter and the panel was given 14 days to submit its report.

The question uppermost on my mind is: How do you conduct a virginity test, using nothing but a nurse?
And what prompted the test?
I sure am sorry for that Principal's daughters. . . if she has any.
Guess it's symptomatic of the silent rape that goes on in this country, when people: uncles, fathers, brothers, teachers, strangers, boyfriends, mothers, and now Principals think they can just slip their hands and all-what-nots under a girl's skirt. . . without her permission.
We need to show greater respect for womanhood.
