Governor Idris Wada In Fatal Road Accident

It is indeed official: The convoy of the Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada was this Friday, involved in a fatal accident along the Lokoja-Ajaokuta Road.

The governor was on his way back to Lokoja from a function in Ayingba when the accident happened. A press statement released by Alhaji Bologi Yabagi, the Kogi State Commissioner of Information, said. . .

"The convoy of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada has been involved in a ghastly accident. The governor survived the road mishap and is in stable condition. Sadly however, the governor's Aide de Camp ADC, Idris Mohammed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police died on the spot."

The governor himself was taken to the Intensive Care Unit of the Kogi State Hospital in Lokoja. He was brought in with a severely fractured femur, a senior government official said. He also said the governor is in good condition and did not sustain major head or spinal cord injuries. . .

. . . Even though doctors at the hospital where Mr. Wada received First Aid Treatment said his leg is "totally broken"

The state government arranged for a helicopter which flew the governor to the National Hospital in Abuja, a source at the government house told PREMIUM TIMES.

The governor is in “serious pains,” the aide, who saw the governor at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, said.

The death of the ADC is regrettable. . .

We equally regret the action of the convoys of government officials on our roads who try to outdo the skills of Lewis Hamilton, on BAD ROADS. . .

. . . Which they refuse to repair and build.

2012 has witnessed governors involved in plane crashes, helicopter crashes, accidents and even hospitalization for one illness or the other.

The hospitals are bad and the roads are worse off. . .

Perhaps there's a message for our leaders somewhere in there.
