The Conservation Plaza situated along the Eti-Osa Lekki Epe Expressway between Chevron HQ and Oluwa Nisola House is the location for the second toll plaza on the Lekki Epe Expressway corridor, as the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) is set to commence tolling on this route as early as Sunday December 16, 2012.
Tolling at the Conservation Plaza hadn't commenced because the Gidi government needed time to complete the 3.6 km alternative route for road users who don't wish to pay the toll.
Now the alternative route is complete, and toll for the Conservation Plaza will commence. The tolls are same as that of the Admiralty Circle Plaza located near the Oniru Estate: 50 naira for motorcycles; 80 naira for authorised commercial Danfo buses; 120 naira for saloon cars and tricycles; 150 naira for SUVs, minibuses and pick-up trucks; 250 naira for light trucks and 2-axle buses, and 350 for heavy trucks and buses with 2 or more heavy axles.
Before you begin groaning, hear's something for you to consider: Toll Discounts of 5% and 10% are available for road users who choose to pay using the SwiftPass Anonymous card and the eTag (including the accompanying SwiftPass Plus card) respectively. Also users of eTag benefit exclusively from the Frequent User Discount, which offers further discounts off the tariff up to 70% depending on the number of times the user passes through the toll.
Now for some news that benefits the regular folks: LCC has PROMISED to offer complementary 24/7 convenience services such as Car Breakdown Recovery Services, Armed Security Patrol, Customer Service Helpline, Ambulance Call-Out, Traffic Management Support, and Environmental Management Support.
So, when you really look at it with a fine tooth comb, the toll is not such a bad idea. . . is it?
