Ever wondered if it's possible to have a glass of alcohol with your doughnuts and pastries? Well, it is! A bakery in Chicago is adding a little pep up of alcohol in their fillings. Delightful Pastries on West Lawrence is making doughnuts that allow you to get fat and get drunk all at the same time!
The doughnuts - called 'drunken doughnuts' - "are filled with different liqueurs, liquored up custards and liquored up jams" says Dobra Bielinski, the bakery owner. The drunken doughnuts are being sold at all three Delightful Pastries, on Lawrence, in Old Town and at Fresh Market in the Ogilvie Center.
I get a strange mental picture of whole families of men, women, and children, staggering out of eateries, trying to locate one another; women screaming, "Pete, Amy, Greg. . . where are you?!", and the children, who were in front of their mothers all the time, screaming back, "We don't know!"
But practical applications are endless: Men could get drunk without going out, women could share a 'drink' with their guys here in Gidi without having to lose their cloak of piety, and children could learn more than a thing or two about being just like dad!
Hmmmn. . . things are suddenly looking up.
