Dead Man Walking - And Still Talking?

Is he still alive? The erstwhile General Overseer of Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo (aka Rev. King), on Monday, urged the court of Appeal to quash his conviction and death sentence.

If you recall, Rev. King was sentenced to death by a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Jan 11, 2007 for the murder of a member of his church, Ann Uzoh. I won't bore you with the whole legal mumbo jumbo, but just say that he made this appeal on the grounds that the lower court erred in law in many respects and miscarried justice on the matter.

OK, so Rev. King wants to live. I can empathize; I want to live too. I want to see the bright blue skies, and feel the heat of the warm sun on my face. I want to hold my son and his grandchildren in my arms. I want to make sweet passionate love to my wife (or in this case, my girlfriend), and not have some Oga turn me out and make a b***h out of me in prison. But really, if I dehumanized someone and blatantly took his or her life, then there are those who would question my right to continue living.

The actions of members of the church didn't help his cause much, if anything, their actions only helped to paint him in a demonic light and stamped a veil of evil on the church and its activities. Now he's fighting for his life, and all we can do is look on and see what the results would be.

However I will save you the agony and tell you right now that if the court upholds the verdict, then the parade will move on to the Supreme court, and if it doesn't and he's set free. . . . well, I dunno.
